For today’s review, I look at one of the pieces that Funko released to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the opening of Walt Disney World down in Orlando, FL. Opening October 1, 1971, back then Walt Disney World consisted of one theme park (The Magic Kingdom) and two hotel resorts (Disney’s Contemporary Resort & Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort) with Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground opening a month later. Over the years, WDW has expanded to add three more theme parks, a vast dining, entertainment, & shopping complex, and numerous additional hotel resorts.
Additionally, over the 50 years Walt Disney World has seen exciting and iconic attractions come and go in the theme parks. One of these attactions is inspiration to a globally-popular franchise of movies, merchandise, and other attractions: The Pirates of the Caribbean. One of the fan-favorite characters from the dark-ride has been immortalized in Pop! form. Here is the Pirates of the Caribbean Dog.
Towards the end of the ride, we come across a couple of jail cells filled with pirates trying to escape while the town is being raided by their comrades. Three of the prisoners are trying to lure a dog closer, who is (un)fortunately carrying the keys to the jail cells.
With one of the focuses of my Funko collecting being Disney Theme Parks, I knew I had to get this. Luckily, I was able to find it over with our friends at Entertainment Earth, where you can pick up this Pop! as well as thousands of others Funko products.
